There are no “dotted lines” which separate the head, neck, thorax, ribs, shoulder and arm. You can illustrate this connection by simply adjusting your posture right now. Notice how your body completely realigns due to the interrelationship of the whole. Common Upper Core dysfunction diagnoses may include:
- Headache
- Dizziness or vertigo
- Neck, rib or upper back pain
- Cervical or thoracic disc herniation or radiculopathy
- Cervical or thoracic post-operative rehab
- Shoulder impingement or tendonitis
- Rotator cuff injuries
- Thoracic outlet syndrome
- A-C joint injury
- Collarbone or shoulder blade
- Tennis or golfer’s elbow
- Carpal tunnel
Evaluating the Upper Core Complex requires that each joint, muscle, ligament, and neurovascular component is clearly understood. Your therapist will also assess your muscle control, postural alignment, breathing patterns, and biomechanical factors that affect your balance, pain, and function. Your treatment will include hands-on manual therapy, muscle re-education, specific postural, and biomechanical treatment which will integrate into increasing your function and returning you to activities you love.
